Recipe - Cast Iron Skillet Apple Crisp
Nothing smells more like fall than apple crisp baking in the oven. So when fall rolls into New England, I enjoy visiting a local apple orchard and picking sweet apples for baking.
This recipe is super easy to make and can be enjoyed for breakfast, a snack, or an after-dinner dessert.
Ingredients:
4 apples peeled and diced
1 stick of butter (¼ melted & ¼ room temperature)
¼ cup plus 1 tbsp brown sugar
2 tsp cinnamon
1 cup oats
Dash of salt
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
2. Wash, peel, and dice apples and place in a 10-inch cast iron skillet.
3. Melt ¼ cup butter and drizzle over the apples, then add ¼ cup of brown sugar, a dash of salt, and 1 tsp of cinnamon to the apples. Stir until the apples are covered.
4. Place the oats, 1 tsp of cinnamon, and ¼ cup of brown sugar into a bowl and mix, then fold in the remaining ¼ cup of room-temperature butter until all the ingredients are combined.
5. Crumble the oat mixture on top of the apples.
6. Bake for 40 minutes.
Enjoy topped with vanilla ice cream and caramel!
